Visit Sponsored Students
In addition to financial support, we plan to home visit our students at least every year, to show our support and encouragement.
In November 2008, we started our first home visit. For the first time, we set foot in a small town called Fengwan, in Qujiang District, Shaoguan, the most northern tip of Guangdong Province. Since then, the remote villages in Qujiang have become our inevitable funded location.
OUR WORK
Funding Poor Students
We aim at subsidizing poor students in the Mainland to complete their basic schooling. Since 2008, we have sponsored more than 350 poor students. For the approval process, the local schools first submit the application list to our Mainland partner, who conducts preliminary home visits and screening, then submits the list to us. We then will send Hong Kong volunteers to Shaoguan to visit the applicants, to understand the actual situation, and make the final decision.
Eligible Recipients :

Grade 1 to 9 students with positive learning attitude

Low-income families receiving public assistance

Orphans/single-parent children/physically or mentally handicapped students as priority
Training
We provide diversified and systematic training for local partners, primary and secondary school students, including the One-year “Growing Sky & Peer Counsellors” series, volunteer management training, communications and self-understanding training etc.
From 2013 to before the COVID-19 outbreak, we worked with a Hong Kong high school to promote better relationships between Hong Kong and Shaoguan students. A 4-day project, designed by students selected by the school, aims to allow participants to experience school life in Mainland China, communicate with local students and experience real country life.
10th Anniversary Series
To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the organisation, a series of activities was held in November 2018. We funded our partners and selected sponsored students for a 4-day Hong Kong to meet with our volunteers, sponsors, and sight-seeing.
